DANGEROUS FLOWERS
GIRLS ON FILM + MAVI PHILLIPS

 An evening of self-empowered sexuality
through short films, art, panel discussions + speakers

Wednesday, December 5th, 2018, 7pm - 10pm at  WYTHE HOTEL CINEMA

Dangerous Flowers: a showcase celebrating self-empowered sexuality through film, art, and a panel discussion, organized by Girls on Film, a LDN-based film collective, and artist + filmmaker Mavi Phillips, founder of Orgone Cineclub. Through a body of selected films by women and non-binary filmmakers, we aim to spark discussion about alternative, overlooked, and under-represented portrayals of sexuality. We want to gather these inspirational artists making the uncompromising films needed to inspire people to do the bravest thing of all: be themselves.

The current climate is not kind to those who naturally go against the grain of society. The Trump-washed language of politics encourages us to forget that we, the citizens, determine society for ourselves. Sexual energy is something that blooms from within and drives us to be the beautiful individuals that we are. With this event, we hope to inspire the message that no one reserves the right to tell us what that looks like.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE EVENT:

  • A series of curated short films about sexuality by women and non-binary filmmakers, which include documentary, fiction, and animation.

  • The films will be preceded by energizing opening speakers, and followed by a panel discussion featuring filmmakers and industry professionals working in sex-positivity where you will have a chance to engage with the fabulous contributors.

  • Alongside your ticket, every attendee will receive a copy of our Cliterature! zine: words + images inspired by the inner ball of libidinal energy we all have. Produced by Girls on Film and Indiana Lawrence, and featuring some outstanding original work.

  • As if that wasn't enough, you will be in with a chance of winning our special prize giveaway goodie bag on the evening featuring toys from Dame Products and a copy of the sensational afro-feminist publication Black Fly Zine!
